We are an active parish which relies on the volunteers from within to help. Each Ministry is an invitation and an opportunity to serve and to be involved in the Parish community.

Acolytes and Senior Servers
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Parish Service.
Description: This Ministry involves:
-Preparing the Altar for Mass (water, wine, candles, hosts, etc.)
-Directing the Altar Servers
-Liaising with Projectionists, Musicians and Readers
-Assisting the Priest/s during Mass
-Packing up after Mass
-Occasionally assisting at Funerals, Weddings and Baptisms
-Occasionally bringing Communion to homes/hospital/aged care

Aged Care
-Beechwood
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Christian Spirituality.
Description: Volunteers visit and take Communion to the Catholic residents of Beechwood Nursing Home. Volunteers also pray for those in Beechwood who are unable to receive Communion. Mass is celebrated at Beechwood once a month.

-Holy Spirit
Description: Volunteers visit and take Communion to the Catholic residents of Holy Spirit Aged Care. Volunteers are also involved in social activities with residents of the Holy Spirit. Mass is celebrated at Holy Spirit once a month.

Bereavement Support Group
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Christian Spirituality.
Description: To provide care and compassion to those who have experienced the loss of loved ones. Appointments are arranged with the families to organise funeral services.

Buildings and Grounds
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Stewardship.
Description of Services: The care of the buildings and grounds of the Parish. Frank Burke is our project manager who assists and coordinates maintenance and projects pertaining to maintenance, building and Church property.

Children’s Liturgy

Description: To help convey the Gospel to the children of the Parish in a simplified example.

Cleaners
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Stewardship.
Description: Volunteers are rostered to clean the Church every week on a 5-week roster system.

Communications

Description: The weekend bulletin contains the relevant notices of our Parish. Also, notices are posted on the Parish noticeboard outside the Sacristy.

Endowment and Planned Giving
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Stewardship.
Description: The Endowment and Planned Giving Program allow Parishioners to support the Church financially on a regular basis. This ongoing contribution funds the building, maintenance and activities of the Parish.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Parish Service.
Description: The Eucharist Ministers distribute Communion during Mass. Ministers collect a cross before Mass so the Acolyte can identify how many Ministers can assist during the Mass. Those wishing to become Ministers undertake training and are commissioned for this Ministry.

Floral Arrangers
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Stewardship.
Description: The Floral Arrangers decorate the Church every week with floral arrangements to enhance the Altar and welcoming of the Church.

Finance Committee
Description: As per Canon Law, the Finance Committee has the duty of offering the Parish Priest advice and guidance on all matters of Parish expenditure. John Tesoriero currently maintains financial issues and report. The Finance Committee will consist of two representatives from Revesby, Panania and Revesby Heights.

Hospitality
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Stewardship.
Description: The Hospitality ministry involves the buying of goods and the preparation of the Parish Centre for morning tea after the 9 am Mass on Sunday. Volunteers are rostered a few times a year.

Lectors (Mass Readers)
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Parish Service.
Description: The Lectors commentate before Mass and read from the Bible during Mass. Lectors meet 1-2 times per year in the Church at the discretion of the Lectors’ Coordinator.

Legion of Mary
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Faith Formation.
Description: The Legion of Mary admits active and auxiliary members. The former attend a weekly meeting and are allocated work which contributes to the work of the Parish; such as visiting the sick, acting as extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion and leading state school scripture lessons. Auxiliary members support with their prayers, the work of the Legion.

Life Ascending Australia
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Christian Spirituality.
Description: Life Ascending is a member of an International Christian Movement for those in their Retired & Semi-Retired years and it is based on three qualities of life. It offers friendship and spirituality to older people helping them to deepen or recover their faith, with absolute confidence in God. To achieve these ends most members meet regularly within Parish Life Ascending groups. Others known as Associates share all the other benefits, being part of a powerhouse of prayer, receiving the Life Ascending Newsletter three or four times per year, and meeting other members at Reflection Days, Retreats and other gatherings.

Linen
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Stewardship.
Description: The Linen ministry involves cleaning the used Altar Linen each week. This ministry operates on a roster system, with each person taking it in turns to clean the Altar Linen.

Money Counters/Wardens
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Service
Description: Count money from collections every Sunday from 8:15 am to 9:30 am. Wardens ask Parishioners to assist with collections during Mass. The 1st Collection is allocated to support the needs of the Priests of the Parish. 2nd collection is allocated to support the maintenance and buildings for the Parish.

Musicians
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Parish Service.
Description: Musicians lead in singing and in playing music at our weekend Masses. Musicians schedule their own meetings to practice their Church hymns. One musician from each group currently provides the list of hymns that will be played to the Projectionist Coordinator (for the slides) and the Parish Secretary (for Copyright purposes).
Musicians generally play and sing during the following parts of Mass: Entrance, Offertory, Communion, Reflection and Recession.

Parish Catechists
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Faith Formation.
Description: This Ministry teaches Catholic scripture to students in public schools (currently 4 schools). Catechists hold meetings on the first Thursday of the month in the Parish Centre to provide support and guidance to one another.

Parish Prayer Network
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Faith Formation.
Description: A prayer group who is committed to praying for those who send prayer requests. Members can pray at any time of the day using whatever form of prayer. Members do not meet to pray. Members usually hold an annual Mass where all are welcome.

Piety Stall
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Stewardship.
Description: The Piety Stall sells religious gifts in the back foyer of the Church after Mass. This allows Parishioners to conveniently buy religious goods without needing to travel.

Projectionists
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Parish Service.
Description: Projectionists setup and control the PowerPoint slides on the projectors during the weekend Masses (Saturday 6:00 pm, Sunday 7:30 am, Sunday 9:00 am and Sunday 6:00 pm).
Where there is no music or musicians are unable to control the projectors, a projectionist will assist by setting up the projectors and laptop, navigating through the slides during Mass, and packing up the projectors and laptop.
Projectionists receive complete training and have access to a reference guide in the Sacristy. They also have support throughout their involvement in this Ministry.

Right to Life (NSW) Incorporated
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Parish Service.
Description: Right to Life promotes life from conception to death. Members meet in the Parish Centre every 2 months.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Faith Formation.
Description: Baptism of Adults and Older Children
Adults who are interested in becoming Catholic participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). Children over the age of 6 participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Children.

Sacramental Team
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Faith Formation.
Description: The Sacraments of Reconciliation (Year 3 and above), Eucharist (Year 3 and above) and Confirmation (Year 6 and above) are offered to the children of the Parish and local schools who wish to continue their faith journey within the Catholic Church.

Social Club

Description: Fortnightly on Thursday’s a group of members gather in the Parish/School hall to share friendship and activities in a social environment.

Social Gatherings/Dinners

Description: Opportunity to meet in a social environment to strengthen the Parish Community.

St Vincent de Paul Society
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Christian Spirituality.
Description: The St Vincent de Paul Society is a lay catholic organisation that aspires to live the gospel message by serving Christ in the poor, with love, respect, justice, hope and joy, and by working to shape a more just and compassionate society. In the local Parish the main focus of the Society is:
– To assist people who are unemployed or underemployed by conducting home visits, and providing company and assistance with food and utility bills
– To assist with providing emergency shelter and housing
– To raise money and/or provisions to help those in need

Vietnamese Community
Parish Council Portfolio: Commission for Parish Life.
Description: The Vietnamese Community celebrates Mass at St Luke’s each Sunday at 11a m and on special occasions, such as Feast Days, Holy Week and Christmas. The Vietnamese Community also engage in a number of social activities throughout the year.
